guinea pigs

DSC00336, originally uploaded by Our Little One.

so the official name of the guinea pigs are guinea nibbles fat and fluffy snowball, guinea nibbles for short and apples.....

i 'm wondering if its normal for kids to play with a guinea pig for at least 3 hours a day....and the only reason they stop is because i tell them we are doing something else now, the poor thing needs a nap. its the first thing they ask for in the morning adn they have to say good night to them before they go to bed.

they play animal resucuer with it , animal doctor, they build it houses, set up doll furniture around it, put clips in its hair, barbie tiaras on it. dress it in baby clothes, push it in barbie cars, put make up on it, build pet shops and cages all over the playroom, and put stuffed animals and apples in different cages. build it lincoln log homes, let the barbies ride it. take it for walks in the wagon outside around the neighborhood (not my fav. its sooo hot!) take it the playground, push it on the swing. it sits with them for "preschool". they have picnics with it at lunchtime , push it in the baby stroller, put it in the baby craddle and toy highchair.
luckily apples is calm and does whatever they want. guinea nibbles does not like to come out and usually runs back to its cage the second they losen there grip on it. it was bitting them and so i told them they couldn't hold it for a week. now the girls just don't tell me when it bites them. the other day i saw kiera grimace in pain. i said, did that jsut bite you, and she said, No, i'm ok, its ok, i was being rough with it.....which she wasn't , but she's willing to lie for it......

apples is the best pet ever, defineltly earning its keep. i have never seen kids so in love with their pet before. they snuggle, kiss on and tell it the love it multiple times a day.

Wow. They are so hard core about these rats! She's willing to smile through the biting just to play with it? I love it. And you're right--I've never heard of any kid playing with their pets that long. Money well spent!
