Monday I finally got my tonsils out, after 10 years of problems, i finally did it!
On Friday tom's mom came from AZ to help out. We had a great weekend. since Tom's bday was wednesday, she bought him the Wii early and we played all weekend! it was a blast and a great way to get my mind off my surgery. I played till my muscles were totally fatigued and sore, haha, i was really good at tennis, whiched totally freaked tom out that i could actually beat him. can't wait till i can get playing again! any recommendations on games we should get?
on monday morning , karen took me to the hospital. i was home about 3 hours later. with the drugs from surgery still running through me, i was in very little pain and thought recovery was going to be a peice of cake. then the pain meds made me sooo sick, i couldn't take them all night. tom called the next morning and they finally called in tylenol with codein for me. but it had been so long since i had taken anything, i could barely swallow any of it. something i hadn't expected was that my throat would totally swell up, it felt like it was the size of a pin hole and i was gagging and choking and gasping for breath, plus , i know this is TMI, but my throat totally filled up with gunk, i don't know what is back there since my jaw is still stuck shut, but there is some nasty stuff going on back there. i am easily grossed out so this was really hard for me. that night i finally asked tom to take me the hospital because i couldn't swallow any pain meds, and i felt like i was gunna die, so i thought i could just get an IV of meds. tom called the doctor and he told tom to play the bad guy and force the meds down me. i was crying and crying when tom told me that,but i swallowed little tiny sips, it took me like a half hour to swallow a couple tbs. then tom set his alarm for every 4 hours during the night so i would never skip a dose. oh, and they finally thought to tell me to put cold ice rags on my throat to reduce swelling, wish they had told me that earlier, it helped a ton. by the next day i was doing so much better. the swelling had gone down enough so i could eat some soup. the meds are not that strong, but they take the edge off. tom called today to ask them to call in something a little stronger, which they are going to do, now that i can eat alittle , they won't make me so sick.
i have been lying in bed mostly, but i can also get up and sit on the couch and play alittle bit with the girls. but the girls did great through all of this which has made me be able to relax. karen was amazing, i'm so glad she came out here. halle loved all the attention and new clothes and toys. she loved having someone give her everything she wanted and listening to her motor mouth. kiera loved grandma too. she is talking a lot now. i layed in bed upstairs and left my door open, so the girls could come in when ever and get on the bed with me and watch cartoon or look at books with me or just play in the room. but usually they just liked playing with grandma and dad. kiera totally accepted the fact that i wasn't doing a lot and she was sooo happy and cute, but when she needs something she asks tom. even if she is watching tv snuggled up with me. as soon as tom comes in the room she gets up and gives him her blanket, which mean, put me to bed. karen laid with halle every night till she feel asleep, cand met all her princess demands. karen also did 100 loads of laundry, cleaned, cooked, spoon fed me jello, kept cold rags on my neck, striped all the beds and washed sheets, changed diapers, did baths, meals, bottles, everything!! it was amazing to have her here!! she will be missed and the girls will be thrilled to see her kelly again at disneyworld this april!!
halle is glad that i can talk quietly again, so i am i, i really missed talking. i still can't move my jaw at all, so my talking is mumbled and quiet, but at least its better then writting messages for the first few days.
its supposed to take 2-3 weeks to get back to normal, so i am glad that everyday i am feeling a lot better. i am always starving and thristy. my stomach has shrunk to the size of a golf ball, so even though i can eat some soft food now, i can only eat a few bits. fast food commercials leave me drooling. i've lost a 6lbs in days, but i knew that was gunna happen so the weekend before the surgery, i totally stuffed my face with all my favorite foods, a weekend to remember!
well, i hope all this was worth it and i get less sore throats from now on...the dr. said they were some of the worst tonsils hes seen and were "cryptic and infected" ...gross!!

random stuff!
~Tom is on a bball league in town, its a tournament in town where the churches play against each other, go team LDS. we went to watch them last night, kiera yelled , DAAAYEEE, DAAAYEEE, it was really cute. halle kept saying oh, shoot the black team got a point, or i dont' want the black team to win. yes, they had on black jerserys, but i was still hoping the people around us did not think she was referring to the fact that the whole team was actually black. i kept saying things like go purple team, (tom's team's jerseys) to try to balence her out. they won the game, it was fun to watch!
~halle was pooping in a stall, i was trying to occupy kiera in the bathroom, i peeked in to check on halle and she said, "shut the door, someone' s in here!"
~halle always wakes me up and tells me she is starving. this morning, i said, i would check my email and then take her down for breakfast, she said ok. a few minutes later she came up behind me at the computer and said, "mama, i told you i was hungry" .."i know, just one sec"...then she holds up a peeled banana in my face and says, "you didn't know i could do this, did you?" she was so proud that she had gone downstairs, gotten her stool , got the banana and peeled it herself, she told tom as soon as he got home from work.
~i got my hair trimmed a few inches, it had gotten really long, so it still is really long, but when i came home, halle said, "i told you not to do it, i told you!" the next day i did my hair, came out of the bathroom and said, halle how do you like my hair, she looked at it and said, "it will grow" halle is convinced, due to her princess obssession that only rediculoulsy long hair is beautiful.
~me, "halle, did they ask you if you wanted to say a prayer in your church class?" ...halle, "yes, i said, 'no thank you"
~halle is so thrilled about being a sunbeam she tells every one, at stores , other moms, its soo cute
~halle pronounces the v like a b, so , i love you berry much. so the other day she said river, but it sounded like riber
i said, you sound like a frog, so then she started laughing saying it more frog like, riber, riber and everytime she wants to get a laugh out of me or tom, she does it and we laugh, well now she goes up to random strangers and other moms and says, "listen to this, riber , riber" and they don't know what she is doing or why halle thinks thats funny. it makes halle look like a really weird kid, but it still makes me laugh.
~kiera is silly as usual. we were in halles room and kept hearing from the hall a crash and then giggles, crash, giggles and we looked out to see kiera had put a nightgown over her face so she couldn't see and was trying to walk down the hall and everytime she crashed into something or the wall she laughed. slowly the lights are turning on in that girls head, but certainly not all of them are on yet.
~halle told the sister missionary, "seriously...i love you"
~at the museum the old folks home was having a feild trip to the animal show. kiera and halle were putting on a more entertaining show for the elderly women who were totally loving it. halle was asking all the women their names and telling them all about herself. the lady in charge gave me her card and asked me to bring the girls in one day to have them put on their "show" for the old ladies. i think we'll do that one of these days as halle would love some grandma attention, kiera is a goof ball for anyone who will watch, and the old ladies would love how sweet halle is.
~kiera's favorite word (besides ba-ba, her beloved bottle) is lately "mine" she'll say it to kids at story time even if they are sitting there minding there own business. at mcdonalds they each got a pony and a hairbrush. halle wanted kiera's hairbrush so bad. i just kept saying ask her to switch, but when halle did, kiera would hold it up to her ear, in her fist, and say, "no, mine!" for the rest of the day and the next day kiera loved that halle wanted that brush and held onto it saying mine, mine over and over. it was pretty funny.

more halle!
I am writing down the funny stuff halle says so i don't forget it.
in the bathroom at church i told halle to try to poop. she said, "mama, i don't want to get the church potties dirty!"
i told halle to put on a pair of pants and a shirt so we could go to the store, "mama, people will think i'm a boy if i wear that" (and she put on a dress)
halle said that kiera wasn't pretty today. i told her that wasn't nice. she said, well, she's wearing pants, she looks pretty in dresses. i said, do i look pretty today. halle said, "ummmm, you look handsome"
halle told her cousin over the phone, "i like things that are pretty and daddy likes things that are cool."
i told halle i need her help teaching kiera how to talk and learn her animals. at the pet store, halle thought it was hilarious to teach kiera the wrong animal noises for the pets we were looking at and of course, kiera does whatever halle does.

today we bought tom a magazine at the store, halle assumed it was an early bday present. "we can give him this at his party and all the children will bring him presents"
halle, "mama, kiera always makes all the other babies cry" (refering to kiera being a baby bully at play groups and the train table at the barnes and noble)
halle, "mama, sometimes when kiera hugs me, she bites me"
halle was standing by the church doors, well i ran back to the car to get something. "mama, shouldn't someone be watching me!"
we have been listening to the primary songs and i told halle she will learn them now that she is a sunbeam. tom came in the room and started dancing/shaking his butt to the music. halle was totally disturbed. "daddy, these are sunbeam songs, not kaboose songs!"
kiera is sooo upset that she didn't get a bike. she knows she can't ride the tricycle, but she tries and gets frustrated (just a few more months/inches and she'll be fine, halle could do it by a year and half) but in the mean time, she is totally distraught over halle riding a bike and not her. we went up to our playground to go riding. we barrowed a kids 4 wheeler dora car from ruthie, for kiera to keep her distracted from halle. on the way out the door halle says, "mama, can we bring the dora car for kiera so she doesn't freak out this time"
halle imitating me telling kiera to get something out of her mouth, "no mouth, kiki, no mouth! Seriously, kiera, NO MOUTH!"
i can hear halle in the next room saying, "no biting, no biting", i run in the room and see halle with her finger in kiera's mouth. "halle, if you stick your fingers in her mouth, she will bite"
halle, "but she just put something in her mouth and i was trying to get it out"
kiki speaks a line of russian (babbling) in halle's face. "don't say that, kiera, thats rude!"
we have started to read the book of mormon that grandma sent halle for xmas (its the softback with a few pictures in the front). before we read, we go through the pictures together. halle stared at Moroni's old, weathered face and said, "mama, he looks a little mean"

beater eater
we had a lot of fun at christmas time this year. luckily everyone was basically healthy, tom and the girls had pink eye for a few days, i had a sore throat (but what else is new). and kiera's nose will probably be alittle runny all winter, so, basically healthy and defenintly happy! we made tons of cookies and popcorn and other yummy treats. the girls really got into opening presents which made it fun. everything halle opened that had two of something inside she said that one was for kiera, which was sweet, since kiera had her own set of presents. we stayed in our pjs most of the day and relaxed on christmas. we went to a friends house on xmas eve and had a great time!! i got a treamill to burn off all my holiday goodies and tom got a mountain bike which he has been wanting since i've known him!
halle was so thrilled about her helmet , that i ended up getting her a barbie bike off of craigs list this week. she loves it and we go every day!! i will post pictures of her on her bike soon. she is really good at it! and actually was ok about wearing pants and sneakers to ride it (only because the dress got caught in the wheels and she got a blister from wearing dress shoes riding the first time). so, i actually had to get her a couple pairs of pants and shirts, since she didn't really have any and took pictures since it is the first time in almost a year she has worn pants. halle, "mama, i'll wear pants for riding, but dresses for going to the store"

beater eaters
there is a flickr group that collects pictures of people eating off beaters. they have asked me if they could use previous pictures of the girls eating beaters, i took this for them!

kiera tried so hard to roll out the dough, she loves to imitate halle! look how long her hair is getting!
my little helper!
halle loves to be my little helper. she did such a good job folding these towels for my drawer, i could hardly believe i hadn't asked her to do it months ago. some of halle's jobs that she likes to do are:
gather her and kiera' s dirty clothes up in the morning (PJs) and after baths and put them in her laundry basket. tell me when the basket is full and put them in the washer and then after i put in soap, she knows which buttons to press. load the forks and spoons into the dishwasher, and when they are clean put them in the right drawer. change kiera's diaper, with my help, and put on kiera's diaper cream. this is one of the jobs halle has come up with lately, i wish she would have thought of it earlier, because kiera lays perfectly still for halle and throws a fit for me. putting the velcro straps on kiera's shoes (some jobs are pointless, but halle likes it). halle loves to make her bed, sweep, help me mop and vaccuum, and i hand her the groceries and tell her whether to put it in the pantry, fridge or freezer. halle even got kiera to put her dish in the sink when she finishes eating. kiera can only reach high enough to set it on the counter in front of the sink, but halle watches and then tips it over into the sink when kiera is done. oh , and halle loves to keep a glass full of ice water for me on the counter. She will also hang up her dresses and my shirts, but this one, she has to be in the mood for. its really all more cute then it is actually "helpful" because it takes her longer then if i just did it, but its starting to show potential. also, besides the things i listed, halle is a mess and is selective about what chores she likes!
PS. those towels are actually clean...that dang chocolate soy milk stains everything!!
christmas party
had a christmas party one evening before xmas. let the kids make ginger bread houses. the kids had a lot of fun. i preassembled the houses so they just put on the candy!!
dress up
the girls love to play dress up. even kiera loves to pick out a dress and tries to put it on and then i help her get it on right. they love to dress up and put on music and dance. tonight me and halle worked on a dance routine. it was sooo fun!

this is me trying to force kiera in a picture with santa. the one with just halle sitting on santa's lap is precious (they gave me a free one, but i'll have to scan it). this one just cracks me up! kiera is throwing her body around and halle is confused by kiera's crying but trying to still be happy. she made sure to ask me if just she could give santa a hug before we left. and ask him for a diamond necklace.

they also had tables set up where you could write a letter or draw a picture for santa and a big mail box to put it in. kiera is enjoying her candy cane. halle was stunned to find out that santa gave her a broken candy cane and made sure to go back and ask for a new one!
kiera's first shooting lesson
the bass pro shop had laser target practice set up at their santa village, they also had a fake deer you could practice shooting. the girls and tom loved it. it didn't have much to do with santa, but it was very southern. i like kiera's face in this picture. its like, "yeah, i'm one years old and i'm holding a gun, watchya gunna do about it"

kiera is sooo cute trying to roll out her cookie dough and whatever cookie dough sticks to the rolling pin she licks off. halle likes to use those impossible cookie cutters, the dough just gets mushed into the cutter and licked back out!
notice our magnetic wall in the backaround. the girls love it and i hung up our xmas cards. yestarday we made pictures for grandma garrett, we are excited about her upcoming visit!

halle got some diamond stick on earings for xmas, kiera is wearing them in this picture, they both love to wear them and it is actually pretty cute!!
Cookie dough!!
when we make cookies, i do a real batch and put about half of whatever i am doing , into halle's bowl. she loves it because she gets to make her own batch. then her and kiera can use her batch as playdough, most of it gets eaten and whatever blobs they manage to put on a sheet gets cooked, no one eats it...but the girls are kept occupied while i make decent cookies that we can eat!
Christmas morning!
the girls with their stockings, halle had assigned us each a stocking weeks before the big day. kiera didn't know yet what was going on yet, but held tight to her stocking (and her baba).
