kiera-isms
well, i finally get to post some of kiera's words. ok, so maybe they are only words to us and must still be translated by us (someone at storytime asked me if kiera knew any words yet, i said, yeah, she can say ba-ba, they said, um, that's not a word)
mostly kiera speaks russian when she is angry, which we cannot translate, but we just know to back off. when she is happy, she babbles excessively. I am thinking kiera will pick up the talking thing quickly considering me and halle really never stop talking.
ok, so here are some of kiera' s words, (well, maybe just sounds to some of you. maybe we're biased, but we see sparks of genius, yes, this is becoming most defenitly a brag blog, but in my defense, i don't have a journal/baby book, so i have to brag about the girls somewhere for them and their posterity, right?)
"DA" (in really high pitch, everytime she sees tom or hears the garage open, which means he's home) translation: da-da
"daw", translation, dog, everytime she sees a dog, she gets so excited and screams, "DAW!"
"Ba-ba", translation: bottle, a better translation is probably, get me a bottle, NOW!
"shhhh, shhhhh" , translation: shoe. it may not seem like enough to qualify as shoe, but she really does do it when she is holding shoes.
"shhhh, shhhh" , translation: FISH. ok, so your thinking that she's saying shoe again, but she points to fishes in books and says, shhh, shhh. she'll get the "fi" sound in there any day now.
other tricks:
if you say:
lay down, she'll do, no matter where she is.
give hug, she'll run in your arms and lay her head down on your chest.
where's your hair? she'll touch her hair
blow on your food. she'll blow on her food, she's use to me doing it all the time, she usually does this without prompting.
get dizzy, she'll spin in circles
dance, she'll bounce up and down
hold hands, she'll hold her hand up for me to take or grab halle's
where's kiera, she'll pull her blanket over her face
kiera turned a year a few weeks ago! yea! i made it through the first year, i think they are more fun here on out, since i have not ever had an easy baby or an easy year.
kiera has turned into the happiest little baby ever. she walks around laughing most of the day. she has a permanent smile on her face all the time. in public, especially. she says ahh, ahh, to get people to look at her and they always smile back. she adores halle, but has moments where she gets really jealous if i am holding halle and has to come sit on my lap at the same time. she doesn' t get pushed around by halle's freinds and will stand her ground if they try to take things from her or not let her join in what they are doing. she is so snuggly and huggy and sweet, it makes up for the last year of torment, fussy, and craziness, she put us all through, well, mostly me.these upcomming months are so fun, i am excited at how much they learn in their second year, what a fun year its going to be!

Baby Sister!
I think Halle might be the only one who wishes kiki was still a baby (she could treat her like a baby and kiks would stay out of her stuff)
every now and then halle takes still gets to baby her and kiki loves it!

kiera's mission accomplished!
after a year of and most especially the last month of trying to get up in this chair and check her email, kiera finally figured out how to do it. She could not stop giggling and squealing for about 15 minutes and everytime i moved closer to her, she sensed that I would move her and screamed at me. the keyboard to the left is the "play" keyboard that I have out for the girls to use, but, of course, kiki pushed it aside to pound on the real one. mama didn't raise no fool!

ok, so i know you probably shouldn't post naked pics of your kids online, but this one cracked me up. she looks like the naked cowboy, watch the video further down, she looks like a drunk cowboy, as halle's boots start to slip off her. tom did this to her and sent her out to find me, she could not stop laughing!
i started french braiding halle's hair and then letting her sleep in it so its curly the next day, she loves it! it reminds me of myself, so i love it too!
ok, so i know mom and lynn are going to hate this picture because kiera's hair is hanging in her face, but i swear we just woke up and i held her down and pinned it back shortly after.
this is the girls bathroom and they love to hide out. they are starting to play together more, which is soooo cute! favorite game together: hide and go seek, halle hides, and kiera finds her. kiera always follows halle around like a little puppy dog, so its easy to make halle feel like she is playing along and halle doesn't stay hidden for too long before she jumps out and screams boo anyways, which totally cracks kiera up!
thanks for the outfits , aunt lynn! kiera' s hair is long enough to actually stay in pig tails. the only way to get her to sit still is by letting her dump out all the hair clips/rubber bands and dig through the pile on the floor, its a mess, but totally worth it! its so stinkin' cute!

HALLE
halle, "mom, say, 'can i have some of your gum'"
me (taking halle's orders as usual, knowing that this is sure to be a trap), "halle, can i have some of your gum"
halle, "no, mommy, it has my germs on it"
kiera screams at the top of her lungs and laughs (a daily ritual)
Halle, "kiera, that is an outside yell!"
when kiera is old enough to understand halle and take orders from her, it will be like having another mom around the house, i can't wait. kiera understands a few orders from halle now, like come here or no or that's mine, she usually follows those better from halle then if they come from me.
kiera is in her carseat breaking the sun shade.
halle, "kiera, stop it!!"
me, "its ok if she breaks it" (if it keeps them entertained, let them do it, right?)
halle, still wanting kiera to stop, even though i said it was ok, "kiera, please stop, your annoying me!!!!!!!!"
Halle told lynn this "joke" at least 3 X a day while we were on our trip and thought it was soooo funny.
"lynn, how bout we take lucy home with us and leave kiera here!!!"
Kiera adores halle and craves her attention, which halle is on and off about giving her. sometimes kiera is just in halle's way. she tries to sit on her lap and hug her all the time. its really cute, esp when halle is ok with it. tonight kiera pulled her hair. Halle, "kiera, that wasn't berry kind!"
Halle is OCD about using clean potties. she did not learn this from me as i can only dream about always having my toliets sparkling clean. at home she is not as crazy and will just flush them before she uses them. on the airplane, she was totally disgusted at the thought of using the bathroom, it is pretty gross, but i tried to act like it was no big deal and told her there was brown soda spilled in it, aka skid marks.
halle, "its, ok, i don't have to go anymore"
me, "if you don' t go, you won' t have any room for soda" (soda is one of halle's favorite treats)
halle looked horrified and burst into tears.
halle, "mommy, I DON'T USE DIRTY POTTIES!!!!!! PLEASE DON'T BE MAD AT ME!!!!!!
this is all taking place in the back of the air plane, while i'm holding kiera and the door open and over the jet noise, i'm pretty sure it just looks like i am beating a child in the back of the plane and all people can hear is her screaming, "please don't be mad at me!" needless to say, i put her in kiera's diaper and let her pee in that.
Well, I don't want to end this post with a story of Halle being a little montster so I have to say that after that, she did great both ways, me and kiera took a nap while halle watched a dvd or drew in a notebook and of course sipped her soda.

kiera and lucy

Our Trip!
My trip to Lynn's house was sooo much fun! The kids had a blast playing together. Here's the highlights, more on flickr, but this is a ton of pictures.
kiera was a magnet to lucy, where ever she was, kiera was running to her, and kiera can really run now. the louder you said NO, the faster she ran, and yes, kiera usually does run to anything I say No about, but she really was into Lucy. she loved to grab her face, finally we let her hold lucy and she was in heaven, so excited, video to come, it was cute!
"Scripture power!" lynn's boys love to dress like missionaries, they even do it on random days of the week and act out missionaries. they are so cute. they already know the scripture stories so well!
this was the sunday before i left, it was my last desperate attempt to get a picture of all the kids together, and smiling, at least i got them all in it.
this was at old macdonald farm, it was so fun. me and lynn were way more excited then the kids about the tame deer just walking around.
Lucy is so adorable. she is so good too, i had no idea babies could actually just be content and happy, especially in a stroller.
kiera would not be left out of any activity that the other kids were doing. luckily she has little fear so shes up for anything!

both of my girls adore lynn. lynn was totally taken with kiki. lynn is so much fun! kiki is easy to love, always has this big goofy smile on her face and she loves to give hugs.
the last time the boys saw halle was about a year and half ago, she was just a baby, they were sorta expecting that again. they were a little surprised and taken back about halle.
the kids loved to dance together. Halle called james, "sweetie" while we were there, he loved it. adam finally asked halle to call him sweetie too.

adam is the sweetest little boy. he loves to snuggle with his mom. he is also really cool, and likes to walk around with his hands in his pockets.
james is also a really cool kid. he will do great in kindergarden! His eyelashes make me jealous! he was sweet to kiki and a gentleman to halle.

Wrestling and shooting (and all other boyish playing) was totally new for Halle, she loved it so much, she would say to the boys, "lets play that shooting game" . the boys really tired her out everyday. halle said to me (for the millionth time), "i really, really want a brother"
