guinea nibbles had her babies this week. here they are just a few hours old. guinea nibbles only had 2. they are really cute. this baby stuff has been soooo fun!! we play with them everyday, multiple times a day. we have a guinea pig playpen where we can get them all out and watch them run around and eat fruit and veggies. this has been sooo exciting for the girls and really fun for me and tom too!!

THE BABIES ARE HERE!
we are so excited that our baby guinea pigs are finally here! they were born yestarday and are soooo cute. guinea pigs are born with hair, eyes open and walking....so...you can hold them right away. we spent all day yestarday and the last 4 hours playing with them. i am trying not to let the girls get too attached becuase i told them they can each pick a baby to keep and we are getting rid of all the other pigs....but i need them to each pick a girl or each pick a boy.....and i can't tell who is who yet. guinea nibbles still needs to have her babies too!!! this is soooo fun!!! its like christmas for the girls, they are totally obssessed!!!! dont' know what names will stick, but i've heard popcorn, butter and carmel the most.....coincidently, my favorite foods......

5 years old!
this is halle the morning of her birthday! she is the cutest thing in the world! i can't believe she is 5, at times, and at other times, it feels like me and her have been best friends forever. we spend every day trying to make the other one happy and succeding! halle is the most pleasant child, she has nevered whinned, never thrown a tantrum, rarely gets upset, rarely ever cries about anything and has been in time out probably 10 times in her whole life. she is so laid back, goes with the flow. she is truely a dream child and i love spending every day with her!
she is tons of fun. she loves to laugh, and loves to dance. she loves her guinea pigs more then anything in the world. she loves to make our family happy and asked me if she could take the family out to ice cream with her birthday money. the other day i let her to pick out a purse for me, knowing that i would get something practical, and she would pick out something trendy and cute (which she did, i've gotten tons of compliments on my cute pink purse)....she begged me to get a matching wallet. "if you have a pink purse, you should have a pink wallet"....no, i said, there are no pink ones in the clearance section...."please, mom, let me buy it for you with my birthday money"....i told her we would keep our eye out for one at the thrift store, but i am always so happy when she is generous and sweet!
halle loves preschool at home with me. she loves telling everyone that she is homeschooled for preschool/ she loves playing pretend, mostly house, mom, dad, ect and animal and trainer. she loves when i play polly pockets with her. she loves to play outside. she loves to play in the dirt , sand and mud. LOVES her razor scooter, asked me for a skate board for xmas and a remote control car.....which surprised me because she is soooooo girly , but she has other fun sides to her. she still loves fashion, heals, make up, cooking, dancing and gymnastics.
i am so lucky to be this kids mom. i love spending my days with her. it really is like having a friend around. we talk non stop all day to each other, i would be bored with out her as my side kick.
happy birthday, halle!
spook alley
me and tom set up a spook alley at the clubhouse for the party. we hung black vinyl across half the room and had the kids walk through it. with a fog machine and strobe light, orange lights and spider webs and some skeletons, it was just the right amount of scary for the kids!
pin the eyes on the pumpkin
halle thinks that a party is not complete without pin the tail on something. this was her idea , her and kiki colored it and she thinks its the funnest party game ever!
dance off!
there were a couple things halle really wanted at her party and one was dancing. i got a really fun, halloween dance songs, like the monster mash, ect. halle loved dancing. i laid out numbers and did a freeze dance and if i called your number you got a cupcake. halle thought it was pretty cool!
birthday cake!
my friend made this cake for Halle! she is soooo amazing! halle loved having a witches cat for her cake! what a great friend to make my birthday cakes for me!!!
vampire!
halle has been talking about being a vampire for halloween for months now. and this is her right before her halloween birthday party. she loves the freaky / scary side of halloween....she made me google vampire costumes and told me exactly what she wanted her costume to look like and her make up. i got the cape and boys collar shirt at the thrift store, she had the leggings and heals, of course, i made the red belt....and she wanted her hair slicked back, sprayed black, black eye shadow, red eyeliner and blood down her mouth....
linny
this is linny the guinea pig wonder pet. kiki wanted to be a guinea pig for halloween for months now. then , on our trip she saw her first episode of the wonder pets and wanted to be Linny, who is a guinea pig that wears an orange hat and a cape. she was pretty excited, the weather here is still pretty hot though so the costume didn't last long. but it was cute!
(this was right before halle's party. my kitchen looks like a disaster after 2 days of cooking for the party, carving a pumpkin, making witches brew, a pinata and slime, for the party favors, just want to clarify that my kitchen is not like that normally, haha)
camp out
kiki was soooo excited to sleep in the tent!! everytime a dog barked , kiki asked me if it was a wolf.....no, kiki, we're still in the backyard :)
sleeping in a tent!
last weekend we set up the tent in the backyard and the whole family slept in it. the look on halle's face in this picture shows how excited she was about this! she was FREAKING out, so happy!!!! i bought this huge , 8-10 person tent at a yard sale for 10 bucks. i would have paid 50, its almost brand new. we kept it up all week out side so they could play in it. the girls slept perfect all night, but by 6am, after freezing all night, me and tom had had enough. it was still fun, but i'll be more prepared next time. i can't wait to really take them camping!

back from our trip
last week we went to florida. first universal studios/adventure island and then to tampa (where tom's work conference was) and busch gardens. we had the best time! it felt like our first trip without a baby....no diapers, no bottles, no getting up at night, no naps....we sat at resturants, we relaxed, we had fun! the girls were super happy the whole trip and kiki, who in the past can be annoying in hotels, strollers, car rides and in lines was sooooo fun. she did every ride, even scary haunted rides that halle won't do. and both the girls LOVE thrill rides! even kiki will keep her hands in the air through any rollercoaster and refuses to hold hands on any ride to prove her bravery! we were gone for a long time, so we did EVERY single ride and show multiple times and stoped at every spray pad and for some reason, the girls loved sitting on these tigers at the entrance to the park.
(ps. halle does have clothes that fit her, but the girls LOVE to wear each others clothes. so kiki sometimes goes out in big clothes and halle, as seen here, can go out in really little clothes, shorts, size 24months, haha)

pink and purple
i dont' know if two girls could be more happy about their pink and purple room! two walls pink, two purple, halle picked purple, kiki, pink....the girls have been wanting to share a room for a long time, but halle doesn't like the top bunk and i was worried about putting kiera on the top. but i just put up two rails, which i need to make purple covers for...., and the girls have been so happy!!!! they love to talk before they go to bed, and kiki, who hated being alone during a thunderstorm (which in GA is almost every night, has loved having a roomie......

guinea nibbles I
the day after the girls took this picture, guinea nibbles died. i let them take a bunch of pictures.....they were guinea nibbles doing all kinds of strange things....the next day she was dead and when tom looked through the pictures/evidence....he swears it had something to do with it.....something about humiliating it to death.....
we'll miss you pool!
this is the last week of the pool.....i'm sad the weather is cooling off and our fun summer is coming to an end....

being silly
*the girls still play dress up everyday and dance. i wonder when they'll out grow it. hopefully not for a long time. its so fun to watch!
*barbies are their latest favorite toy now that i moved the house into their room and they have more room to play. they can play together for along time and play so nicely together!!
*i set up a craft table and set up a craft supply area next to it in the playroom. they love it. they can color and do crafts for at least an hour a day. today they convinced me to buy a white , with a black and white picture shirt at kohl's . it came with markers. they colored it for me today and are SOOOO excited for me to wear it! i can't wait to show it off, i know they will be so proud of themselves!
* we've been swimming in the evenings still. kiki can swim really far now. underwater, lift up her head and take a breath and go back under and swim further. halle is great too.
*kiki started a ballet and tumbling class. she loves it. she has been waiting to do this since halle did it last year!
*halle LOVES gymnastics. she talks aabout it everyday and practices everyday. she is soooo strong. she can do real pushups and loves to work out, doing squats and crunchies and other exercies everyday. she even started hoping out of the stroller to run with me now and then.
*me, "halle are you excited that aunt lynn is moving here?"
halle, "yes, but i would like it the most if both your sisters were moving here" (she's sooo sweet!)
grandma garrett got kiera the tent in the background for her birhtday. they love it. they even napped in it one day!
*we are still having a fun summer even though all our friends went back to school. luckily i family with 5 kids age 5-11 moved into the neighborhood, they homeschool too, we have had a couple fun days with them. but mostly we have fun with each other.
* yestarday we went to the mall to hold a puppy. i let the girls try on clothes. they were in heaven, trying on these sequence adult dresses, but they were supposed to be really short , so they were floor length on the girls. then we held our puppy and rode the esculator.
then we went swimming and babysat their friends that night.
*today we went to kohl's, then walmart, then i said i would read to them while they laid in bed and listened. we all feel asleep, i am loving the couch i put in their bedroom. tonight we went swimming again.
*before they go to bed, we snuggle for a couple books, then they get in bed and i ask them what scripture story they want to hear. read it and then read a couple chapters from sweet valley kids. we read daniel's and the lions den a lot. kiera loves it for some reason. tonight halle said, tell me about adam and eve. halle thought adam and eve's being naked in the garden was funny, but admitted she would like to be naked all day too (she usually is just in underware).

guinea pigs
so the official name of the guinea pigs are guinea nibbles fat and fluffy snowball, guinea nibbles for short and apples.....
i 'm wondering if its normal for kids to play with a guinea pig for at least 3 hours a day....and the only reason they stop is because i tell them we are doing something else now, the poor thing needs a nap. its the first thing they ask for in the morning adn they have to say good night to them before they go to bed.
they play animal resucuer with it , animal doctor, they build it houses, set up doll furniture around it, put clips in its hair, barbie tiaras on it. dress it in baby clothes, push it in barbie cars, put make up on it, build pet shops and cages all over the playroom, and put stuffed animals and apples in different cages. build it lincoln log homes, let the barbies ride it. take it for walks in the wagon outside around the neighborhood (not my fav. its sooo hot!) take it the playground, push it on the swing. it sits with them for "preschool". they have picnics with it at lunchtime , push it in the baby stroller, put it in the baby craddle and toy highchair.
luckily apples is calm and does whatever they want. guinea nibbles does not like to come out and usually runs back to its cage the second they losen there grip on it. it was bitting them and so i told them they couldn't hold it for a week. now the girls just don't tell me when it bites them. the other day i saw kiera grimace in pain. i said, did that jsut bite you, and she said, No, i'm ok, its ok, i was being rough with it.....which she wasn't , but she's willing to lie for it......
apples is the best pet ever, defineltly earning its keep. i have never seen kids so in love with their pet before. they snuggle, kiss on and tell it the love it multiple times a day.
animal doctor
the girls love to play animal doctor or animal rescurer....
look at kiki checking out this dogs eyes....she is so cute!
laptop
this is halle's "laptop".....
computer chair, keyboard and moniter......she loves to find a key , press it and then write it on the moniter....
marshmellows
halle used to be able to trade toys with kiera really easily. kiera is so sweet that ususally you just have to ask, can i have that and she'll give it to you. but when she says no, halle has become a master mind at getting what she wants......here are some examples of her classic lines:
"kiera , can i have that pen your using" (halle)
"no" (kiera)
"would you like me to draw you a picture of ariel? you love ariel. i can draw you a pretty picture of ariel if you let me use that pen." (halle)
"yeah, ok!!!" (kiera)
halle, "kiera, i'll trade you this stuffed animal, for the one you have."
kiki, "no:
halle, "but mine is a magic monkey. its really cool. would you like a turn with a MAGIC monkey?"
kiki, "yeah, ok!!!"
its time to go, i say, halle, go get dressed. halle is too lazy to go upstairs.
halle, "kiki, will you go get me some clothes"
kiki, "no"
halle, "kiki, would you like to pick out my dress today? you can pick me out the prettiest dress you can find. i can look like a princess today. would you like that, kiki?'
kiki....running upstairs as fast as she can to pick halle out a dress.
its really not mean the way halle is saying it and not that often, and being a youngest child, i know that , that is part of life, so i just laugh when ever i hear it......

kissy kissy
both of the girls say the same things in there prayers. here are some of their most used lines (besides the thank you for the day, bless the food, thank you for Jesus:
-thank you for guinea nibbles
-thank you for apples (the other guinea pig)
-please help guinea nibbles to calm down and stop bitting us
-thank you for our toys

halle was in absolute heaven playing with our friends cat and her seven kittens. they are sooooo cute. and the girls couldn't get enough of them!!!!
kiki loves her pet crickets
kiki loves bugs...she can catch these crickets, puts them in a bug box, names them, plays with them, snuggles up with them. its really gross, but sorta cute to watch....

callaway gardens
two weekends ago we went to callaway gardens, a couple hours away from here. it was fun to get away for a long weekend. we played a ton on the lake. they had a free circus everyday, we went twice and a butterfly habitat place, which was fun for the girls....they Love butterflies, so being around thousands of them was really cool for them.

swimming!

Originally uploaded by Our Little One
halle taught herself to swim last summer. it took her less then a week to practice and get it. she refused to let me practice with her (luckily its a walk in pool, so she could practice where she could still stand up on her own)...she got really good at it and this year she is even better....i've seen her beat kids twice her age and height in races.
the girls love to have halle swim under my legs while kiera swims on top of the water.
kiera has gotten really good too, she LOVES to practice with me. i can walk along side here in the water and she can swim and grab my arm for a quick rest and then keep going....we can go pretty far like this.
both the girls can swim on their backs and kick too, so when they get tired from swimming, they just flip over

a few weeks ago guinea nibbles died. the girls have been wanting another one so bad. yestarday we drove to a farm where a lady breeds guinea pigs and bought this one. she had about 8 babies that were all sooo cute! the girls named her guinea nibbles fat and fluffy snowball
she is so tame and the girls are so in love with her!

the princess and the frog
kiki fell in love with this frog that we caught in the backyard. she carried it around all evening, hugging it and snuggling it up to her face. then she put it in her shirt and carried it around like in the picture. it looked like a baby in a baby carrier. we actually had friends over for dinner who were totally grossed out. i had to tell her quite a few times not to kiss it, which was so hard for kiki (she has finally stoped licking things, but now LOVEs to kiss on things she loves, mostly me, but this day, would have been the frog) after a few hours it finally got a way from her. she cried....we've found 3 frogs and a turtle this year! kiki has been in heaven!
model shot
this is one of halle's classic poses when i get out the camera. its so america's next top model so it always makes me laugh. we were getting ready to go to the pool, halle put on her heels. i don't even own heels, halle's personality is not from me....its all her own. she told me that she wants a shiny blue convertable when she grows up (to match her shiny blue purse). i said ok. then she paused for a minute and had a thinking/serious look on her face, i knew something funny was coming....."mom, when i grow up, will you give me a ride to the car store to buy my convertable, because i won't have a car yet, so i won't have a way to get there"....sure i said. kiki jumps in, "i want a convertable too!" ....then halle asks if i will give kiki a ride too.....sure....
i asked halle her favorite kind of dog...."a shi- poo"....."a what?"....."a shi-poo, mom, a shitzoo and a poodle"......(too many trips to the pet store, haha) .....defenitly a dog that fits halle's personality though!
in this picture kiki has red make up all over her face.....time to go to the pool!, i said, when i saw what she had done....(i rarely remember to bathe the girls these days, haha)
kiki asked for grapes in the car yestarday. she forgot to say please so i said, "kiki, can you ask me for grapes in a nicer way?"
kiki says, "Beautiful Mama, can i have some grapes please?"
i got way nicer then i asked for!
i said, "halle whats my talent?" (curious what she would come up with)
halle, "your really good at finding stuff"
at first i laughed, but then it totally made my day that she actually noticed that i find everything for everyone here....a lost glove, the diamond underware, the polly pocket with purple hair.....sometimes i even surprise myself when i know where their random things are!
a few times a week halle will randomly go up to tom and say, "if i lay on the couch will you come tickle me?" of course he always says yes, no matter what he's doing, and its sooo cute!

summer time
this was halle's tap costume. the song was woody's roundup....it was soooo cute!
summer time is so fun! two weeks ago my sisters where here to kick off summer with us. we went to the pool every morning, came home for naptime (us girls just pigged out on yummy food) and then went back out to the pool in the afternoon. we had the most relaxing, fun time ever!!!
last week, the girls and me and tom, as often as he can, have been living at our pool! we can do the water slide for hours at at time, and then swim, jump in, play mermaids....it has been soooo fun!!! we have been going in the morning, i pack a lunch, and then we nap, and go back out.....with at least 6 hours of swimming a day, halle has gotten to be a really great swimmer! she can swim really long distances, come up for a breath and keep on going, she is fast, can swim down and get things off the floor of the deep end, and float really well. the whole time we are out there she never stops swimming or even goes in the baby area to rest....sometimes her naps last up to 3 hours!
friday kiki asked me to take her wings off, i told her she would drown, kiki, "the life guard will save me".....
so i did, at first she dog paddled, all morning. when we went back out in the evening, she said she wanted to swim like halle, jumped off the stairs and swam under water to me, a few feet! on saturday , all she wanted to do was practice. i had to watch her so carefully, because she thinks she can swim now.....she is doing so well and is soooo proud of herself!
halle, "how did we have enough money to buy a whole house?"
me, "we didn't, daddy works hard everyday and at the end of the month we pay some of the money towards the house"
halle, "i bet daddy is sad that he can't be home to play with us all day"
me, "kiki, your my best freind"
kiki, "halle's my best friend" (ouch!)

my kiki bear!
i haven't done a lot of posts just about kiki, so here is one:
kiki loves this lady bug dress. she can wear it for days, steal it out of the dirty laundry basket and hide it in her room and come out in it when your least expecting it. it is size 18 month, even snaps on the bottom and she would be devastated if i got rid of it.
she likes to quickly do her own hair, like in this picture, to avoid having me do it.
she is very sensitive, can easily get her feelings hurt or cries about her boo boos (both opposite of halle)
she is very affectionate
just when she is about to drive you over the edge, she senses it and says the nicest thing, like "your the nicesst mommy in the whole world"
she says a few words to halle and then "tell mommy" and lets halle give the entire explanation of what she is talking about, what two year old wouldn't love having a full time translator around....it has come in useful many times. i often say, "halle, whats she talking about"
she loves playing pretend and her and halle come up with some crazy adventures.
she adores halle , whorships the ground she walks on, can't stand if halle is upset, asks for the second she wakes up in the morning. she is always trying to love on halle, hug her, kiss her, snuggle with her (halle is not into snuggling with her while watching tv and i can tell it is disappointing to kiki). she mimicks everything she says and does. and tells everyone, halle is my best freind!
she loves little things, little stuff animals and trinkets and can get easily attached to something that fits in her fist and carry it around all day and sleep with it.
she perfers to play with older kids, halle's age and above, won't really play with kids around her age, but if she sees an older girl somewhere and they give her any attention, she'll assume they are great freinds and grab their hands and insist they play with her. usually girls are fine with this, sometimes its funny when she does it to a way older girl, once at a jump house she just grabbed a 13ish girls hand and followed her around, when the girl and her friends sat down to talk in a circle, kiki just sat on the girls lap.
the girls have adoptive grandparents at church. now kiki thinks all older men are her freinds (dangerous, i know, haha) and went over to an old man at the pool and sat on his lap. i got her off so fast.....but she cracks me up how she thinks everyone is in love with her.
kiki is always trying to get a laugh out of the family or friends, she loves to blurt out potty words and of course we all crack up.
favorite things to do:
polly pockets and barbies (if i play with them, the girls could play this all day)
sit at vanity and do hair
cook with me
read dinosaur or ariel books
puzzles
eat yogurt!!!
dance and tumble
play with guinea nibbles
snuggle
the recital
the recital turned out to be one of my happiest moments as a mother so far. the look on halle's face in this picture just shows how happy she was that day, she felt like a princess and it was a dream come true for her to be dancing on stage in front of 100s of people, something she has been asking to do since she was 2 years old (of course kiera was begging to go on stage too and kept reminding me that when she is 3 she is going to do ballet)
i was so excited for her, she was so comfortable on stage, not even nervous. halle thought that learning the songs was part of it and sang along to alot of it, which was so cute! i put some make up on her and glitter on her body and hair. the tumbling outfit was sooo cute and when halle described it to grandpa, i heard her on the phone say, "it was just the cutest thing i've ever seen"
the pigs
these guinea pigs have been well tortured, i mean loved by the girls. this one is guinea nibbles, she lets you do anything to her and never runs. its the perfect pet for kiki who just wants to snuggle up to it all the time, so halle let her have it and took apples, the one that is much more wild....halle thinks apples is cuter and halle thinks she trained guinea nibbles and now wants the challenge of training apples, so she was happy to switch. since kiki usually just sits there and pets and feeds guinea nibbles she is good with her, but here are some of the many things i've had to say to kiki over the past two weeks:
"don't put her in your purse"
"get her out of your shirt"
"don't touch her eyes"
"guinea pigs can't dance" (she was holding her up on two feet"
"don't force her to eat"
"guinea pigs can't shake" (like a dog shakes with one paw)
"you must at least have underware on if you are going to play with them"
"she's not a pillow, kiera"
"you can't lick her" (i was expecting this one)
"i dont' think she likes riding on a stuff animal"
"she doesn' t have wings" (kiera pulls her skin out on both sides and flaps it like she is a fairy with wings)
"you can't hold her like a baby"
overall kiera is suprisingly gentle with them and the guinea pigs never bite, so they are a great pet.
fashion expert
halle's latest fashion statement, she even wore the gloves out!
"mom, am i good at coming up with different styles?" she loves to hear me answer yes to this question. at the store (walmart or dollar tree) she loves to go through the fake flower section and arrange them in a vase (kiki does too) the other day i told her all about what a florist does for a job, she thought that was the coolest job and told me she wanted to be a hair stylist and a florist. i think she might be an interior designer too...the other day we were talking about talents, i asked her her talents, she said, i can pick out beautiful curtains and i can make rooms look beautiful! for grandma's visit, i told her to decorate the guest room, she was so excited to decorate with her stuff animals and trinkets from her room. her personality definetly came with her, she did not inherit any of these "talents" from me!

guinea pigs!
grandma garrett visited last week for halle's ballet recital. while here i mentioned wanting to get the girls guinea pigs and she said we could go to the store and she would get them one!!! it was so exciting. me and tom had decided a long time ago that we would never have a pet, which was fine, we are not animal lovers.....but after having the turtle,i realized that the benefits of having a pet could out way the disadvantages. the advantages being that the girls can spend hours just sitting there petting something. the disadvantage being that i have to clean a cage. i had to think of the one, and only animal that i can stand (literallly, i am disgusted by almost every animal) but i had guinea pigs when i was little and i think they are cute. so far, i am happy with the guinea pigs. the girls spend hours playing with them, i have found the time to read the entire conference ensign, something that usually takes me a year....
i had to sit very close to kiera while she held them for the first week, now,i just need to be in the same room. she knows most of the rules now and is very sweet with them! halle picked one and kiki picked one, then they switched. halle's is named apples and kiki's is named guinea nibbles. but they mostly share them.

strawberry picking
we ate are weight at the strawberry patch this year. we went a few times and loved it! its one of our favorite things to do here in the sping!
apple head
this is our turtle , apple head. when i let it go, i mean, when it jumped out of its cage, the girls were so sad. halle came up with the idea to write it good bye letters. she drew pictures of turtles on paper for her and kiki to color. then she told me what to write on the letter. "we sure loved you apple head. you were so nice. we will miss you. we know you didn't like it when kiki dropped you. you were a good turtle. we love you"
